As a company, we feel very fortunate to have both the personnel and the customers who have helped us remain in operation during this time. However, we are acutely aware of the impact this is having on an immense number of small, local businesses around us. Restaurants, who operate on thin margins and rely on patron volume, are being hit particularly hard. As a thank-you to our employees and in support of these establishments, we have reimbursed up to $50 per employee who have ordered take-out from a local (BC) restaurant.
On that note, buying gift cards for places you may normally visit but which have been forced to close is a great way to help them keep the lights on until they are able to reopen. Consider picking up early Christmas/birthday gifts or getting creative – these businesses really make Victoria the vibrant community that it is, and many are struggling right now.
