Please Note: If there have been any recent positive COVID-19 cases at the requested service location, in the 14 days preceding our attendance, we ask that you inform us. We reserve the right to refuse service for the safety of our technicians. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please call us at 250-382-2161.
Communicable Disease Prevention and COVID-19 Protocols
We are ‘maintaining the course’ in terms of day-to-day operations for our customers, while closely following WorkSafe BC protocols. Our office remains closed to the general public. For scheduled meetings, we ask individuals entering our premises to be symptom free and have not traveled outside of Canada for a minimum of 2 weeks. Upon entry, we require visitors to wear a mask, sanitize hands and sign in at reception. Where possible, we encourage office staff such as our DDC technicians to work remotely to keep risk of transmission low. The importance of frequent hand washing, and physical distancing measures have been discussed in depth with an understanding from each employee.
Our technicians continue to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where appropriate – i.e., face masks and gloves, coordinate access with site contacts, and wash/sanitize their hands frequently; this is by far the most effective way to reduce transmission risk. We have provided our staff with a supply of hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, and a Health Canada approved disinfecting solution. Our service technicians have access to appropriate PPE for use on all worksites. All hand tools and company shared tools undergo routine disinfecting to limit spread of the virus.
We commit that any technician attending your service location will be symptom free, have not recently been exposed to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and have not traveled outside of Canada for a minimum of 14 days prior to service.
Service Requests, Projects and Estimating
Currently, we are still providing service work and estimating to meet your needs. However, we will be prioritizing emergency calls. We ask that you ensure, to the best of your ability, that our technicians are not exposed to individuals that are showing any signs or symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath. If anything changes from the time of your request to the time of service, please call to inform us.
Our technicians are required to maintain a clean workspace. You may see them cleaning common surfaces in the work area that have frequent contact with hands including doorknobs, thermostats, etc. We ask all individuals onsite to maintain physical distancing standards with our technicians.
If your site has any hazards or additional protocols that our staff must review, please let us know ahead of time. This allows our technicians to prepare ahead and act accordingly while on site. You can relay such information to us via e-mail (itc@islandtemp.com) or telephone (250-382-2161) and we will ensure this is added to your file.
Scheduled Preventative Maintenance
We are continuing to complete regularly scheduled preventative maintenance. If a maintenance is due, we have been contacting customers prior to service to ensure we have suitable access and are able to abide by the physical distancing protocol. Upon request, we will reschedule service as needed.
Island Temperature Controls remains attentive with updating protocols and adhering to advice from our health authority. If required, you can request to see a copy of our detailed Communicable Disease Prevention Plan, which is reviewed on a regular basis, at itc@islandtemp.com.
We are very thankful for all our customers and staff for the commitment to keeping our doors open and business moving during this trying time. Please stay safe and healthy, and let us know if you have any questions.
